Lesson: 204 Lesson Name: Moses' Misson (Part 2 of 2) Theme: God's Wonderful Ways Reading: Exodus 3:14-22; 4:1-9 Memory Verse: Psalm 9:12 Memory Verse Text: He forgetteth not the cry of the humble. Hands On Activity - 3D full-color, printable map showing the Egypt to Canaan Exodus travels. Lesson Teaching Points Point 1: In Ex. 3:16, note what God wanted Moses to say to the Elders: I am visiting you (amazing thought), I have seen, and I will bring you up out of Egypt. Point 2: Discuss what God wanted for His people: A three day journey out of Egypt (rather than 40 years), a clear distinction between His people and all others, and to have all gathered to Him without distraction or rival. However, this wouldn't take place without problems. Point 3: Moses said, "I know they won't listen to me." How quick we are to doubt the greatness of the One who reveals Himself and speaks through us. Point 4: Through a few "object lessons," God had something for Moses to learn and remember: 1) Rod turned into serpent. Lesson: God could have made him run! 2) His hand became full of leprosy, an appalling and awful disease. Lesson: God can cleanse the vilest thing. Lesson: 205 Lesson Name: The Plagues (Part 1 of 7) Theme: Seeker Hindered Reading: Exodus 5:1-23 Memory Verse: Matthew 11:28 Memory Verse Text: Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Activity Review game - Bingo cards and 10 plagues dice to review the 10 different events that occured in Egypt leading up the the Exodus.
Lesson Content Suggestions Point 1: Moses and Aaron went to the great, powerful, and proud Pharaoh to speak what God said, "Let MY PEOPLE go." Point 2: Pharaoh had no respect for God and had no appreciation for what the Lord wanted. He thought himself to be a god. God's will and God's people meant nothing to him; he didn't want the people to leave their burdens. Egypt and His pleasure were all that matterd to the King. Point 3: Instead of getting better gradually, the situation got worse. Further burdens were added and hurtful conditions were afflicted. Point 4: The people doubted because they were worse off, had more hurts, greater hardship, less family time, and less time for God's things. Moses doubted and wondered, "WHY?" Notes: God reveals in Exodus 12 that He wanted His people released so that they could: 1) Sacrifice (v. 27), 2) Feast (v.14), and 3) Serve (v. 25). It is clear that salvation starts us on the road to WORSHIP, FELLOWSHIP and SERVICE. Lesson: 206 Lesson Name: The Plagues (Part 2 of 7): Snakes and Blood Theme: Sin's Danger and Consequences Reading: Exodus 6:1-3; 7:10-25 Memory Verse: Hebrews 12:25 Memory Verse Text: See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh. Activity Review game - Bingo cards and 10 plagues dice to review the 10 different events that occured in Egypt leading up the the Exodus.
Lesson Content Suggestions Point 1: Exodus 6:3; Jehovah, the Self-Existing One, needs no one, however, He still reveals Himself to others including sinners. "Jehovah" is the name linked with redemption. Point 2: Aaron's rod turned into a snake, but so did the magicians' rods with their tricks. After exclaiming, "See we have power just like you.", Aaron's serpent swallowed theirs up! Application: There are lots of imitations, but only one real thing! Point 3: Moses and Aaron met Pharaoh at the river and repeated God's demand. Upon refusal, the river was made into blood in the sight of all. Even though the magicians had witnessed what happened with the serpent, they insisted on trying the same because they were satisfied with their pretence, self-impressed with their power, and still unrepentant. Point 4: Just like the magicians, Pharaoh was not repentant. Instead, he hardened his heart and shut his ears. How stupid could he be? Pharaoh was supposed to be the leader, but his foolish heart was darkened. Notes: PLAGUES: 1) Water turned to blood, 2) Frogs, 3) Lice, 4) Flies, 5) Cattle Die, 6) Boils, 7) Hail, 8) Locusts, 9) Darkness, 10) First born dies For More Biblical Background Information See also: Old Testament History - 2.06 - The Plagues of Egypt The Sunday School Teacher's Survival Guide also provides advice on developing lessons for Bible classes.

Lesson: 207 Lesson Name: The Plagues (Part 3 of 7): Frogs and Lice Theme: Sin's Depravity Reading: Exodus 8:1-23 Memory Verse: Job 33:14 Memory Verse Text: God speaketh yet man perceiveth it not. Activity Review game - Bingo cards and 10 plagues dice to review the 10 different events that occured in Egypt leading up the the Exodus.
Lesson Content Suggestions Point 1: God again renewed His demand. Who would win? Point 2: Frogs were one of the things that the Egyptians worshipped. As a result of the plague, they had more than enough frogs! After Pharaoh asked for the frogs to be removed, it was a great miracle in itself that the frogs died (causing the whole land to stink.) Pharaoh renewed his promise to let the Israelites go, but instead he hardened his heart again. Point 3: The dust was smitten to become LICE. The magicians couldn't do this, so "the finger of God" was obvious. Comment on the great things God can do with His finger and how God could teach the magicians a thing or two. Point 4: Pharaoh continued to lead the people in unbelief and stubbornly refused to acknowledge that he saw God's work and that he was incapable of overcoming it. Lesson: 208 Lesson Name: The Plagues (Part 4 of 7): Flies, Cattle Die, & Boils Theme: Two ways Reading: Exodus 8:20-32, 9:1-11 Memory Verse: Jeremiah 21:8 Memory Verse Text: I set before you the way of life and the way of death. Activity Review game - Bingo cards and 10 plagues dice to review the 10 different events that occured in Egypt leading up the the Exodus.
Lesson Content Suggestions Point 1: Pharaoh was once again reminded of God's requirement and claims, "Let MY PEOPLE go." Point 2: A clear division was seen between the land of Goshen and the land of Egypt (Ex. 8:22, 23). God made a difference. Discuss the kinds of differences God puts between the saved and unsaved today. Point 3: God did just what He said He would (Ex. 8:24). God can and will do just what He says. When Pharaoh said "I will let you go," in Ex. 8:28, notice that he also said, "only ye shall not go very far". The Devil never wants us very far from the world and it's control. Point 4: The division was seen with the cattle: Egypt felt the judgement, but there was NO judgement for the Lord's people (Ex. 9:7). Notes: Perhaps it should be noted very clearly that while God puts a difference between His own and the world, that does not mean that Christians have no sorrows or pains. God grants His power and presence to help His own with their trials. More Biblical Background Information See also: Old Testament History - 2.06 - The Plagues of Egypt
