martin prinsMartin Prins - "I came to Ontario from Holland to work.  One day, I went next door.  They invited me to have a cup of tea. I knew the lady was a Dutch woman.  She asked me, “Where will you be if you die?”

“I-I-I don’t know,” I answered, “Nobody knows.”

“I do,” she said confidently. "Sixteen years ago, I came to know the Lord Jesus as my personal Savior and I received eternal life.” She then got out her Dutch Bible. Together we read...

Sunday School Lesson 201 Moses in the Bulrushes in the Nile Print E-mail

Lesson: 201 Lesson Name: Moses in the Bulrushes
Theme: Satan's Character: The Enemy of God and the Christian

Reading: Exodus 1:1-22; 2:1-10; Hebrews 11:23

Memory Verse: I Peter 5:8
Memory Verse Text: The Devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.

Point 1: Many years passed (about 400) and a new king rose to power who didn't know Joseph.  The Israelite population had grown from 300+ persons to 1.5 - 2 million or more.
Point 2: A plot was made to control, burden, and weaken the Israelites.  Taskmasters tried to afflict them with burdens, ordering them to build cities of treasure and store houses, and making their lives bitter (Ex. 1:11-14).  Another plot was made to destroy the sons because the Devil put it in Pharaoh's heart to kill the deliverer that God had promised.  Cf to Herod.
Point 3: Amram and Jochebed were courageous to hide Moses; he was the hope of their hearts.  They expected that God would send a Saviour!  The ways of God are wonderful; the very one who was to save Moses, and then nourish, educate, and protect him, would be the daughter of the one determined to destroy him.
Point 4: Perhaps we could remind the children that have Christian parents of their tremendous importance.  Christian parents are not only caring... look at the difference that praying and obedient parents made!
