It was one of those beautiful days on the Niagara river, the kind of day David loved. He had a little power boat used for tourist sight-seeing and for alittle fishing. Usually, he was really busy, but sometimes, like one particular afternoon, business was very slow. Little waves from the river slapped gently against the side of his boat and as he sat there in the warm sun, he began to get sleepy. He decided just to lay back in his little boat and take a quick nap.

As he slept, the gently rocking boat began to pull on the line tied to the dock. David had not tied it real tight, because he hadn't planned on going to sleep. But the constant movement of the boat finally caused the line to come undone and ever so slowly, the boat began to drift down the river. Dave had no idea of the danger he was in because he was asleep. he knew about the great Niagara Falls way down the river and he knew he would not be able to escape the terrible current of the river if he went too far. But...he was asleep!!

On and on, faster and faster he went towards the falls. People along the shore saw the boat and realized that there was someone in it asleep. But the Niagara River is a big river and they were far away and he never heard them as they shouted to try to wake him up. People tried everything they could to wake him up. Some screamed and shouted; others tried to throw stones and rocks to hit him or the boat. The police and fire companies were called, but they, too, were unable to wake David. The boat floated past a place on the river called, "Past Redemption Point." No one had ever been saved from going over the falls that had gone past that point. The roar of the mighty falls finally woke David. He sat up startled and watched in horror as the front of his boat went over the edge. What began as a lazy afternoon nap ended in tragedy.

What about you? you are on another river called life and you are being rocked to sleep by the devil. "Don't wake up and listen to the warnings," he says. "You have lots of time and no worries!" If he has his way, you will be in hell. But God is calling you! He warns you when you are in Sunday School class. He warns you when you hear the Gospel preached. Sometimes, He warns you when you read a Sunday School paper like this one. Please, wake up and realize your danger and realize that the Lord Jesus can save you from the judgment of God. He took our sins on Himself and was punished for you. All that you need to do to escape God's judgment is accept what the Saviour has done for you in giving His own life that you might be saved. "Because there is wrath, beware..." Job 36:18
