BLESSED BANANAS!

Darlene was thrilled to have been recently married. God had called Darlene and her husband to be missionaries. Things went well for a while. They moved to a different country. They learned the language. They set up a home.

Then it happened! World War II began. The once calm area they lived in was invaded by the enemy. Some people were shot and killed, others were taken captive. Darlene's little world began to crumble. Worst of all her, they captured and killed her husband.

The Army men put Darlene in a prison camp. Darlene was very sad. Day after day crawled past. Living conditions grew worse. Flies swarmed everywhere. Little worms called maggots crawled through their food. Most of the people became sick and some died.

One day, some men came and rushed her out of the camp. They drove her to another prison. They accused her of being a spy.

Weeks went by, Darlene thought all hope was gone. She was locked in a filthy prison cell with mud floors. She was sick and thin. She thought she was going to die.

One day she was looking out of a crack in her cell. She saw a hand poke through a fence with a bunch of bananas for another prisoner. She began to cry and pray. "O God," she said, "I would love to have just one banana." She hardly thought it was possible. That night she slept again on the mud floor.

The next morning, Darlene awoke and sat up stiffly. She could hardly believe what she saw. In the corner of her cell, someone had stacked 92 bananas! How did they get there? She did not know, but she thanked God that He provided for her far beyond what she had imagined.

God delivered Darlene from that prison. She is still alive today. She often tells her story of God's deliverance and provision for her as a captured prisoner. Did you know you need to be delivered as well? You need to be saved from the penalty and punishment of your sins.

God provided for Darlene that day. He has made a much greater provision for you. Darlene saw her need and cried to God for one banana. Have you ever seen your need for God's salvation because of your sin? Have you ever been sincere enough to tell God the truth that your sins are taking you to Hell, and how helpless you are to save yourself? It will be then and only then that God will show you His provision. He gave the best of Heaven, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for sins. God has said "He that cometh to Me, I shall in no wise cast out." God wants you to come to Him today with your need, and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as God's provision for your soul.
