Themes God's Knowledge BOOMERANG RAHWHREEEEER! The jigsaw screamed as it cut through the plywood. Golden sawdust trailed the blade. Dust particles danced in the sunlight streaming through the window. Percy, the yellow lab, slept on the floor, undisturbed by the noise. Grandpa leaned closer to the wood. RAHWHREEEEER! Ben and Jeff stood quietly in the doorway and watched. They waited until Grandpa stopped the saw and laid it on the workbench. Bounding into the workshop, they yelled, "Grandpa, what are you making?" Grandpa jumped. He thought he and Percy were alone. He removed his safety glasses and turned toward the boys just in time to be wrapped in a four arm hug. "Whoa! You surprised me. You're early!" Grandpa laughed. Percy joined them in the huddle, and tried to give his licks of greeting. Laughter filled the room. "What are you making? Can we see?" Ben asked while Jeff wrestled with Percy. Grandpa reached for the pattern on the counter as he spoke. "A non-returning boomerang." "A what? I thought boomerangs always returned to you. Why would you NOT want a boomerang to come back to you?" Jeff said as he came to look. Percy followed snuggling his nose in Jeff's hand. Ben looked closer at the plywood cuttings. Grandpa loved questions. "A boomerang, to you, is a toy. Something, if thrown properly, will make a circle in the air and come back to you to catch. Boomerangs are actually weapons of the Aborigines in Australia. A returning boomerang will come back to you if you miss your target. The weapon is not lost. A non-returning boomerang is deadlier and more powerful. In fact, if thrown correctly, it could almost cut a small animal in two." Ben caught his breath and put his arms around Percy's neck. "Don't be afraid Percy, I'll protect you." Grandpa and Jeff laughed. "Grandpa, You're so smart." Jeff said. "Yeah, you know everything." Ben added. "Not everything," Grandpa shook his head. "Not everything." Grandpas know many things, but God knows everything. God knows you are reading this story right now. He knows your name. He knows what you had for breakfast this morning. He knows what color socks you are wearing. He knows who your friends are. He also knows about all your sins. The Bible says He has written down all your sin in a book in Heaven. God also knew you needed a Savior. He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus to die on the cross and pay for sins. Because of what the Son of God suffered and paid on the cross, God says you can be saved and have eternal life. God tells you what he wants you to know: "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (II John 5:13). Do YOU KNOW FOR SURE you are saved and have eternal life?
