Themes: "Christ the Lord, God is Able to Save J.D. Who is the greatest man to ever live on earth? The Guiness Book of World Records contains a list of great beings. Here are some examples of the extreme accomplishments and abilities of men and women: The Strongest Teeth: On April 7, 1979, Hercules John Massis of Oostakker, Belgium demonstrated the strength of his teeth. Using a specially designed tooth harness attached to a rope, he kept a helicopter from lifting off. The Fastest Talker: In the decade of the 1940's Gerry Wilmot of British Columbia, Canada was a hockey broadcaster. He regularly spoke at a rate of 300 words per minute. In other words, he used five words every second. Try it, but be careful you don't chew on your tongue. The Strangest Eater: Michel Lotito of Grenoble, France has eaten metal and glass since 1959. He usually eats 2 pounds of metal each day. Since 1966, he has ground up and eaten 10 bicycles, 1 super-market cart (in 4 1/2 days), 7 television sets, 6 chandeliers, one small airplane and one coffin. He is the only man to have had a coffin in him. All other men have been in the coffin. Please don't try this one. The Greatest Memory: In Harbin, China, Gon Yan-ling memorized more than 15,000 names and telephone numbers by the time she was 26. The Most Push-ups: Paddy Dayle started doing push-ups in October of 1988 in Birmingham, England. He did as many as he could each day. After one year, in October of 1989, he had done 1,500,230. In May of that year he set the world record for the most pushups in one day. The Longest Time Standing: In November of 1973, Swami, Moujgiri Maharaj finally sat down. He had been standing up every day and night since 1955. For seventeen years he even stood while he slept. He would sleep while he leaned up against a pole. The Most Expensive Home: The final touches were put on the palace of HM the Sultan of Brunei in 1984. His new home cost him $350,000,000. The palace has 1,785 rooms in it including 257 bathrooms. Also it has a 110 car garage. Men and women have used their hands, feet, arms, voices, stomachs, money, and even their teeth to do great things. None of these great feats compare with what the Lord Jesus did when he lived on earth. Simply by speaking, he stopped a storm, calmed a lake, made blind people see, and even made dead people come back to life. No man could ever do that. So, how could he do such tremendous things just by speaking? He is more than just a man. He is your creator, the Son of God. He is the one who made the worlds simply by speaking. That is why he said about His words, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." The word of God is powerful, truthful, lasting, and we can depend upon it. Who is the greatest man to live on earth? The Lord Jesus, the Son of God. But the most amazing thing is that the greatest person who ever walked here upon earth, loved you and died for you. The Bible says that "Christ died for the ungodly." Rom. 5:6.
