FOUND OUT!

On March 9, 1953, Mr. Phil Brick kissed his wife and his little boy "Good-bye" as he went to work. Across the street from his house, he owned a book store called the Chicago Book Mart. The first customer that day asked him for a certain book. He got the book for the man, but the man seemed more interested in looking at him than the book. He thanked Mr. Brick and told him he would return and buy it later.

A few hours later, the same man came back with seven of his friends. Mr. Brick thought, "Oh, no, They're going to rob me!" One of the eight men showed him an FBI badge and asked, "Are you Reinhold Pabel?"

Reinhold Pabel was born in Germany. By the time he was in college, Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany were fighting against Poland in the second World War. Mr. Pabel had to go into the army. While he was fighting in italy, he was wounded and the Americans took him prisoner.

First he was taken to a hospital in Africa and then to Norfolk, Virginia. After he got better, he was moved to a prison camp in Illinois. In September, 1945, he escaped from the camp and went to Chicago. He thought he could hide in the big city because there were so many people. He told everyone his name was Phil Brick. Working as a dishwasher, he made a little money and finally was able to buy his own book store. As the years passed, even he began to forget about who he really was!

When the FBI policeman asked him that question, everything from his past came back in his mind. He had finally been caught! It didn't matter that he had tried to hide his past life with a new name and a good job and a family. He was still Reinhold Pabel and was in the United States against the law! The police arrested him!

Many people do the same thing he did. They go to church, they pray and maybe they get baptized. They give money to the church and after awhile, they think they are good enough for Heaven. However, God knows the truth about all their sins! People cannot hide them from God. "Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do" (Hebrews 4:13).

Even if you are nice on the outside, you cannot get rid of your sins on the inside. Sooner or later, you will have to face the truth just like Mr. Pabel. Are you trying to hide your sins from God? He already knows. Unless your sin is taken away, you will be punished for your sins. The only One that can make you different from the inside out is the Lord jesus Christ. "The blood of Jesus christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).
