Themes: Sin Found Out S.S. What would it be like if we could see each other's sin like God sees them? A man named Mr. Hunter had his sin found out like this. On December 19, 1991, in Chicago, Mr. Hunter was planning the perfect crime. He tried to rob a bank while the police weren't watching. He knew that the police were going to be very busy because President Bush was coming to visit his town. Millions of people were standing on the sidewalks to see President Bush drive by. Mr. Hunter blended in with all the people. You couldn't tell he was a criminal just by looking at him. That's because we can't see each other's sin from the outside, only God can. Mr. Hunter found the bank he wanted to rob. The president's parade was a few blocks away, so nobody noticed him slip into the bank. He walked up to the counter. He quietly pulled a gun out of his pocket and asked for some money. The bank teller did exactly what he told her to do. She filled a bag with bundles of money and handed it to him over the counter. Mr. Hunter turned away and walked toward the door. He was getting away! All he had to do was go outside and join the crowd. Nobody could ever find a bank robber in a huge crowd. Or could they? Mr. Hunter got a big surprise when he left the bank. The bank teller had secretly put a small bottle of exploding ink into the money bag. When Mr. Hunter walked through the bank door, the ink bomb exploded! The red ink stained everything bright red. The money, the man and his clothes were all stained with the ink. Now everyone could see his sin! He had to get away fast! He ran around the corner right into the arms of four Chicago police officers. They didn't have any trouble seeing who had robbed the bank. He was caught red handed. It takes an ink bomb before we can see sin, but God can see our hearts all the time. From God's eyes, everyone is covered with stains of sin. The Bible says our sins are like "scarlet" (Isaiah 1:18). Scarlet is the brightest red color you can imagine. When God saves a person, he washes those red stains away. "The blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin." (1John 1:7).
