HAVE YOU MET THE PRINCE?

Some time ago, I came the closest I will likely ever get to royalty. I shook a hand that shook the hand of a prince. It was the hand of my friend. She had waited for hours outside Toronto City Hall for the opportunity to shake hands with Prince Charles.

After a very long wait, she finally saw him. People shoved, squeezed and pushed to get closer. And wouldn't you know it! After that long wait, my friend ended up on the wrong side of a big fountain. But, you would have to know Emily. She had not waited that long for nothing. Squealing and laughing as her friends watched, she jumped in the fountain and splashed to the other side. She clambered out, soaked to the knees and her shoes full of water.
And there he was! Just two feet away. Emily stuck out her hand. Prince Charles smiled at her. Then, he stuck out his hand. Would you believe it! She shook the hand of the future King of England.

Prince Charles carried on with his royal duties. However, he never knew her name. I am sure he cannot even remember shaking hands with the girl in the squishy shoes.

Yes, Charles is a prince, but there is another Prince far greater than Him. He is called the Prince of Life.

I am very happy to tell you that Emily met Him too. It was a few years ago when she was younger. Prince Charles may not remember her. However, the Prince of Life, the Lord jesus, will never forget her. Emily may not have realized it then, but the day she met the Prince of Life, she met the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The moment she met Him, He wrote her name down in His Book of Life. (The Book of Life is the record of every person He has saved.) Then, He engraved her name in the palms of His hands. But that was not all! He also inscribed her name on His breastplate and on the shoulder of His high priestly garments! The Prince of Life knows all about Emily and she is very important to Him.

When she received the Lord Jesus as her savior, He forgave all her sins and gave her eternal life. Through His Word, the Bible, He gave her 100 percent assurance that she will be in Heaven when her life is over.

When Emily met and trusted the Prince of Life, the Lord Jesus christ, it was the beginning of a revelation of Himself to her that will never end. Because, "in the ages to come, He will show her the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness to her through Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:7). She will always be important to Him and He will never stop sharing with her. What a friend to have!

Have you met this Prince of Life?
