Mr. B worked in a large office building in Center City. He didn't like to drive in all the traffic so he took the train each morning. He normally took the 8:15 train which would get him to his office by 8:45. He had to start work at 9:00.

But this morning he was late. It was 8:00 am and he was just shaving and gulping down his coffee. If he hurried, he could be out of the house by 8:10. That would leave him only 4 1/2 minutes to walk the half mile to the train station to get his train. If he missed the 8:15, he would have to wait until 8:45. That would mean that he would not get to work until after 9:00. He would be fifteen minutes late!

As he hurried out the door, his briefcase suddenly flew open. All his important papers were strewn along the floor. He had only four and a half minutes to get to the train., It would take him half that much to collect all his papers. Hurriedly, he grabbed everything he could and stuffed it into his briefcase. It had taken him 60 precious seconds to do this.

Again, he raced to the door and made his way out to the street. His watch showed that it was now 8:12. Could he make it?

Summoning all his strength he began to run. People looked on in amazement. The young busy executive in his business suit with papers coming out of his briefcase was running as fast as he could. It was now 8:14 and he still had a block to go. He could hear the train,. It was approaching the station. If he missed it, he would lose almost 30 minutes of precious time.

Isn't it strange how people will rush to save thirty minutes but be in no hurry when a long eternity is before them?

He tried to run faster. He was getting out of breath and feeling very weak. His watch said 8:15 as he rushed into the station and ran up the escalator. Would he make it?

As he reached the train platform, his hopes rose. The doors were still open. The train was still there. But as he rushed to the doors, they suddenly closed. He stood there looking at a closed door and thinking about the thirty minutes he would lose.

Have you ever thought about missing your day of salvation? Are you in a hurry to get God's salvation? "Behold now is the day of salvation." 2Cor.6.2.
