Themes: "God is Calling, Neglect K.B. As a boy of 15, Tom Edison had a job selling newspapers and candy to passengers on the train. Every time his train would stop at a station to refuel and switch railcars, Tom would spend his time watching the station-master work the telegraph. He dreamed of someday being a telegraph operator. One day while watching Mr. MacKenzie the telegraph operator send messages, Tom noticed that the man's 2 year old son, Jimmy, had wandered out onto the tracks and was sitting in the way of the switching railcars. Tom shouted to Mr. MacKenzie, but he told Tom to be quiet, he was about to receive an important message. Again Tom tried to warn the father about his son and again his warning was ignored by Mr. MacKenzie who was too busy to listen. Tom couldn't waste any more time. He flung his newspapers aside and rushed out the door towards Jimmy who was completely unaware of the oncoming railcar about to crush him. Tom thought he was too late. At the last second Tom dove at Jimmy and knocked himself and the boy to the next track. He hit the boy so hard that Jimmy's shoe came off and was run over by the railcar as it rushed by. People who were watching hurried over to the two boys to see if they were all right. Tom was holding Jimmy in his arms as the boy cried. Tom looked at Mr. MacKenzie and said,"I tried to warn you, but you wouldn't listen!" Tom Edison not only became a telegraph operator but a famous inventor as well. Tom was responsible for the invention of the light bulb. But to Mr. MacKenzie, Tom Edison will always be the boy who saved his son's life. Don't ignore God's warnings as Mr. MacKenzie ignored Tom or put off salvation as felix did to paul. The most important thing in life is to heed God's warning. We are warned, "See that ye refuse not Him that speaketh." Hebrews 12:25. Again, "hear and your soul shall live." Isa.55:3.
