IS THE ARK A LARK?

Warnings ignored. Lessons unlearned. Opportunities disregarded.

The evidence? Just look in coloring books at Kmart, Walmart or wherever. A giraffe or elephant usually has his head peaking at you over the side of the ark. White-haired noah stands beside them. They keep these books beside fairy tales of Peter Pan, Curious George and Bugs Bunny. You know why? Many people think the story of Noah is just another fairy tale.

As Noah built the ark, scientists were likely trying to prove how a flood could never happen. Four thousand years later, they are still trying to prove a flood could never have happened.

However, Noah did not care what anybody said. Noah believed God. He made an ark about 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. It was huge! Inside, you could have easily stored a five-mile long train with more than 500 boxcars.

It took more than 100 years before the last board was cut and the last spike pounded. Then Noah and his sons got out the tar buckets. They painted every square inch of it, inside and out, with black pitch. Then Noah stood back and looked it over.

Finished! He threw away his brush and sat down on his bucket. Then God sent multitudes of animals from the fields and forests. They all went inside. Then Noah and his family went in.

For seven days nothing happened. The door stood open. Anybody was welcome to enter. The people thought it was funny.

After seven days, God shut the door!

And then? Judgment! God's judgment! Fierce, incredible turmoil shook the earth and tore the seas and skies asunder. Torrents of water swept the people away in a ferocious, unmerciful deluge. The last sight the people had was a pitch black ark safely rolling and tossing on the vicious waves.

One morning a farmers clock ran amuck. It struck seventeen. The old man leaped out of bed in his pajamas. He ran downstairs and awoke the hired man shouting, "Hurry up! It's later than it has ever been before!"

The old gent wasn't far wrong. It is later than it has ever been before!

God warns us of coming judgment. In a coming day, all who have not heeded the warning and trusted the Lord jesus as their savior, will have their final sight - His wounded hand! He will raise that hand and say, "Depart from me!" They will never forget the sight of the one who could have saved them.

Today, the Lord Jesus invites you. He says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). He has felt the storm of God's wrath at the cross so sinners can be "delivered from the wrath to come."

You should stop and think about your future. God says in the Bible, "Oh that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end" (Deuteronomy 32:29).
