One day, many years ago, two young boys were walking down a street in a big city when they passed a pawn shop window. When they looked into the window they saw something that made their eyes light up! It was a huge trombone case! The inside was covered in purple velvet and it looked so impressive that they went in and bought it. They took it home and they tried to find something to use it for. They took their toys and they tried to put them into it but alas, there was only one small part of the case that was wide enough to put any toys into. They tried to put clothing into it but every time the would stuff something in, it would come falling out when they opened it. Everything they tried seemed completely impossible to put into the case.

After some time the boys went back to the pawn shop where they had bought the case. In the back of the store they came upon a trombone and as they looked at it they realized that their case had been designed for only one thing and that was a trombone. Nothing else would fit inside that case and the case was totally useless for anything else.

When we look at the creation around us, we have to realize that there is only one possible reason to explain all of the wonderful things we see. Did you know that the earth is unique in our solar system because it is the only place where human life is remotely possible? Earth is the only planet that is not a furnace or a frozen place. About 40 miles above the earth there is a totally unexplained filter called the ozone layer that protects all life on earth from the eight rays of the sun that would kill us all if we were exposed to them. Also, in spite of the incredible size of the universe, two forces called gravity and inertia remain perfectly balanced. Gravity pulls our galaxy together and inertia keeps it constantly in motion. Scientists cannot explain why this happens. Earth is the only planet where water can exist and water is the supplier of 1/3 of the world's oxygen. Water is the only substance that has a frozen form lighter than its liquid form, because if water froze from the bottom up, all of the water on earth would have been frozen long ago never to thaw again.

As we think about all of these things we see in creation we can only come to one conclusion. This place was designed by a creator exclusively for man, and like that trombone case, man was designed for one purpose. The bible says that God made man in his own image. You see, there are men and women who try to live their lives for everything but God and in the end they acknowledge they are totally frustrated. There are people who amass incredible amounts of money and die completely unhappy and distraught with the emptiness that wealth brings. Like the trombone case with the little boys, as much as people try, there is only one thing by which the human heart can be completely satisfied and that is the love of God. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him hath everlasting life." Today God wants all boys and girls to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
