PERFECT!

"My high school shop project was to take apart a car engine and put it back together. When I was done, there was one bolt still left. I watched the owner drive his car away and wondered how important that bolt was."

This man put together what someone else had designed and built before. Making something from scratch is much harder. The builder has to think of every detail and everything that could go wrong. It must be complete and it must be correct.
The builders of the Titanic thought of almost everything. They thought it was built perfectly and completely. They even said it would stay afloat if there was an accident. Of course, it did have an accident. However, the only the lifeboats floated. Their plans were great, but not perfect.

Ever think of how much God had to do when He created the world? The story of Creation reads so simply, it sounds no harder than building a model airplane.

However, take a deep breath and think how much God had to do just so you could breathe. Up to the moment you were born, you had never breathed. Yet, as soon as you were born you breathed. You did not learn to breathe like you did to walk. There was no time to practice-this was the real thing. Your tiny brain fired up your tiny lungs, and you have been breathing ever since.

God also had to make it possible for fish to breathe underwater. Whales and dolphins, live in water but cannot breathe in it. Birds had to breathe up where the air is thin. Bats, flies, lizards, and spiders had to be able to breathe upside down. No one suffocated. God never made one mistake.

Have you ever seen a shooting star? How did it come to be that meteors constantly pound the moon, leaving huge craters, while they burn up without hitting the earth? Who planned all this? Who, but God? Each day of creation when God made something new, "It was good." Everything was perfect.

The next time you read Genesis 1, try this: For each item that God made, think of the things he could have forgotten to do, or done wrong. You will be amazed at God's power. He made everything correctly and completely in just six days.

There is a greater work than creation. God will someday create a new heaven and new earth. The capital city of the new earth will be called New Jerusalem. When the Lord Jesus was returning to Heaven He told His disciples, "I go to prepare a place for you." What a perfect place that will be!

The greatest and hardest work the Lord ever did was to take away our sin. He created the world by speaking, but He had to die for our sins. Just like his work of creation, it was perfect. Nothing, and no one, was forgotten. It will never need to be repeated, "So Christ was ONCE (for all) offered to put away sin" (Hebrews 9:28).
