Cancer Cure

"One thousand dollars, please. Thank you Mrs. Smith. What's that? Will this medicine really cure your cancer? Oh yes, definitely! You don't have a thing to worry about!"

That sounds like a good promise doesn't it? Lots of other people thought so, too. They traveled to Mexico and paid James Keller millions of dollars to take away their cancer. But they didn't know that he was a fake, and so was the medicine he gave them. His promise was no good. His patients lost their money but still had cancer.

Lots for Sale

One day the phone rang. A salesman wanted to sell Warren Vincent some land in beautiful North Carolina. The price sounded like a real bargain, and he was promised that his lots would be right on the shore of a lake.

Mr. Vincent and his wife had never seen the property, but it sounded great. They agreed to buy the land and started sending money to pay for it.

A few years later, the Vincents decided to look at their lake front lots. What a surprise they got! Their property had no lakes. It had no roads. It wasn't even theirs because they man who sold it to them didn't own it. They had been tricked by a worthless promise.

Cheer Up, Avery!

Avery was in terrible danger. He was perched on a log stuck in the Niagara River, just upstream from the Niagara Falls. The log wobbled and rocked as the river swept by, and Avery hung on for dear life. People stood on the river banks, trying to figure out some way to save him.

To cheer him up, some of Avery's friends made a big sign and held it up for him to see. The sign said, "WE WILL SAVE YOU!" But just then, the log came loose. Poor Avery plunged over the falls and died. His friends were not able to keep their promise.

When people make promises, sometimes they are lying. Other times, people promise something and really mean it, but later, they may find out they just can't do what they would like to do.

Did you know that God always keeps His promises? He never lies or tricks us. He is always able to do what He says. What do you think God has promised you? The best way is to read the Bible. Here are a few of God's promises you will find there:

"Be sure your sin will find you out" (Numbers 32:23).

"God shall judge the secrets of men" (Romans 2:16)

"Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matt.11:28)

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

God's promises always come true. If you believe Him, He will never disappoint you!
