Themes: "World's Attraction, Sin's Deception M.D. Once there was a spider that built a beautiful web in an old house. He kept it clean and shiny. Every time he got a "customer" - a poor fly who flew into the web - he would clean up after him so that the other flies would not know the danger. One day, a fairly intelligent fly came buzzing by. Old man spider called out, "Come in and sit down." But the fairly intelligent fly said, "No sir. Your shiny net looks like a trap to me." And he flew away. But then he looked down and saw a large crowd of flies dancing around on a piece of brown paper. He was delighted! What fun! He came in for a landing. But, just then, a bee zoomed by, saying, "Don't land there stupid! That's fly-paper!" But the fairly intelligent fly shouted back, "Don't be silly. Those flies are dancing. There's a big crowd there. Everybody's doing it. That many flies can't be wrong!" And so down he came. Of course you know what happened. He got stuck on the paper like all the other flies. He would never fly again! Have you ever been tempted to sin? Satan has many ways to catch us. He sets traps in all shapes and sizes. But one things is always the same - he promises that good things will happen if we sin. Like the time that Jerry was writing a math test and didn't know the answers to some of the questions. He knew he should have studied more but now it was too late for that. If he failed the test, his parents would be really upset and he would likely be grounded! O what could he do? He looked over at Brenda in the desk beside him and knew that she always got straight A's in math. Perhaps when the teacher wasn't looking, he could just take a quick peek at her answers and write them in. As he wondered what he should do, a voice inside said, "Go ahead, Jerry. A little cheating is better than flunking the exam!" Or like the day that Judy went downtown to do some shopping. She had enough money to buy the things her mother needed for supper but, as she was walking through the clothing department, a new sweater caught her attention. "What a beautiful thing to wear on the weekend", she thought. But she knew she didn't have the money. "Go ahead", said a quiet voice within. "Try it on and wear it under your jacket until you get home. Nobody will ever know." Temptations may seem to offer good things, but remember the devil never tells the truth. There's always a hook in every temptation that leads to greater bondage and misery. But to obey the Lord and to follow His Word always brings great reward and happiness. Don't get caught by Satan's lures. The bait may look good but the hook is deadly. The Bible reminds us, "Be sure your sin will find you out".Num.32:23.
