I was to pick Bill up at two o'clock. I slid my Bible and notes in my case, grabbed my keys, and slipped on my jacket. I announced I was leaving and stepped quickly outside into the crisp November air.

I glanced at my watch as I climbed into my little, blue, Ford Escort. I pushed the gear shift into reverse and the engine whined as I backed out the driveway. The dust billowed up behind as I raced down the dirt road to pick up my preaching partner.

The house where he was staying was close-by. I rounded the curve, put my blinker on, and turned up the long, steep driveway. The little car groaned at the incline straight up to the garage.

My breaks squealed as I rolled to a stop at the top of the driveway near the front door. I turned the ignition off, pulled out the keys and swung open the door. I stepped out of the car and made quick strides. I heaved a sigh of relief. My watch said two o'clock exactly.

I knocked on the door and rang the door bell to make sure he knew I was there. Bill came down the stairs and opened the front door. His big frame filled the doorway a step above me.

I began to tease him about being ready on time. He jibbed me back. It seemed strange that he was not looking at me as he talked. His eyes kept looking over my head towards the driveway.

Suddenly, he yelled. "Look! You're car is rolling!"

I spun around and took a step towards the driveway. The little blue "bomb" was starting to roll back down the hill. At first it was barely moving. I ran towards the car. Slowly, it picked up speed. I was going to try to get behind it. I am glad I didn't. The little car careened down the steep incline towards the road below.

I came to a halt and watched helplessly. The car rolled down the hill, across the road and slammed into a ditch on the other side.

It was frustrating. If only I had done something right away, I could have saved it. When I tried to do something, it was too late.

In Acts, the man felix put off doing something about salvation. He procrastinated once, then twice, and soon it was an unstoppable habit.. He would call for the preacher, listen to him preach, and then send him away. "Maybe next time!" he would mutter.

Felix is in hell. Why? He simply never put salvation first and never wanted it NOW.

Don't be like felix and get into the horrible habit of putting off salvation. The Bible warns, "Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth" (Proverbs 27:1).
