Themes God's Promises "WHO SAID?" "Quick, Larry, grab those last three cans of milk! Get all the cans of soup you can find! Hanna, run and see if there are any Band-Aids or bandages left. We must find some bottles of water too. We have to make sure we have enough supplies." It was scary to go into the grocery store. People were nasty. They shoved and pushed, grabbing everything they could. Check-out lines took forever. The whole city was going wild. People ran everywhere buying all the canned goods, extra blankets and first aid supplies they could. Schools were closed. Policemen and firemen set up road blocks and warning signs. Police with loud speakers went through the streets yelling - telling people what to do and where to go. Soldiers lined the streets directing traffic and the crowds of people. It was just one man's opinion-an educated guess. A man, a scientist, said that based on all the scientific information he had, a terrible earthquake would happen on a certain day in a certain area of Missouri. Because one man "thought" there would be an earthquake everyone was fighting for food and supplies. Emergency teams were everywhere. Warnings filled the radio and TV broadcasts. Everyone waited, afraid, and scared. And then ....... nothing happened, nothing at all! That was good. Nobody wants an earthquake to happen. The man really thought there would be an earthquake. The people had to listen to his warnings. However, he was wrong! Since then, lots of new, fantastic computers and machines help scientists do a better job of predicting earthquakes. However, no matter how good the machines are, no one is sure of what will happen in the future - no one but GOD! What God says will happen must happen. It does not matter how far out into the future He says something will happen. When that time comes, IT WILL HAPPEN! The Bible talked specifically about how Jesus would die. The first details of the death of Christ were given about 6000 years before. Everything happened EXACTLY the way God said it would. Over 300 predictions were made about Jesus and they all came true. The same God that told us what would happen to Jesus has told us awful things that will happen in this world someday soon. He also tells us what will happen to you if you do not trust Jesus as your Savior. What He says is true because it is impossible for God to lie. He already knows what will happen in the future. We CAN completely trust everything God says. We MUST trust what God says or we will never be in Heaven. Have you trusted what God says about your sin and about the Savior? "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God" (1 John 5:13)
