Sunday School Lesson 131 Joseph calls Jacob to Egypt Print E-mail

Lesson: 131 Lesson Name: Jacob Called Down to Egypt
Theme: Restoration / Christ the Sympathizer / God's Provision

Reading: Genesis 45:9-28; 46:1-7, 29-34

Memory Verse: Gen. 45:9-10
Memory Verse Text: Come down unto me, tarry not . . . and thou shalt be near unto me.

Point 1: During the time alone with his brothers: Joseph called for haste in bringing his father Jacob down to Egypt, wept with joy, kissed all of his brothers, and restored communion with them (Gen. 45:13,14,15).
Point 2: Note what the brothers were to tell to Jacob: "God hath made (Joseph) lord of all Egypt," a dwelling place had been prepared, "a near place," and that nourishment was available (Gen. 45:9,10,11).  The brothers were to tell Jacob of all Joseph's glory (Gen. 45:13).
Point 3: Wagons were sent home with the brothers loaded with provisions for the way and presents for Jacob.  All their former possessions were to be counted as nothing (Gen. 45:20).
Point 4: All the words of Jacob's sons didn't convince him about Joseph.  He finally believed when he saw the wagons sent from Joseph.  Jacob and Joseph finally had their moment of meeting in Gen. 46:29,30.  Joseph gave his father and brothers the best of the land (Gen. 47:11).
