George Menard - "For most of my life I was satisfied and involved with our religion. Later, major changes occurred in the church rituals and I began doubting the whole religion. I specifically worried about where I would go if I died without having a chance to confess to a priest."
Memory Verse: Heb. 7:25 Memory Verse Text: He is able also to save them.
Point 1: Amalek, Esau's grandson, is a picture of the flesh at enmity with God. Amalek fought against the faint and weary Israelites and attacked the hindermost (Deut 25:17,18). Point 2: Even though the children of Israel have been redeemed from Egypt, they are still not safe in the Promised Land. While in the wilderness, they are still subject to attack from enemies and danger from the outside elements. Point 3: A Christian in this world is like a stranger and a pilgrim passing through (1 Peter 2:11-12). Point 4: Joshua, which means Saviour, fought in the battle against Amalek while Moses interceded, supported by Aaron and Hur. Notice who really won the victory, Jehovah Nissi, The Lord My Banner (Ex. 17:15).Song of Solomon 2:4 says, "His banner over me was love."
Notes: The flesh is the evil corrupt nature we all possess through Adam. Even when we get saved, God does not remove it, but instead, he gives us a new nature that in itself cannot do the evil things. The flesh is incurably bad and will not change.
