Suggestions for Lesson Content

Point 1: God had been so good to His people; He now desired to teach them a most valuable lesson as well as give them a guide to preserve them. When the israelites were told what the Lord planned to do, they were very quick to promise, "All that the Lord hath spoken we will do," even before they knew how high God's standards were/are (Ex. 19:8).
Point 2: Mount sinai, where Moses was to meet with God, was to be respected with holiness. (Make reference back to Moses and the burning bush.) The Israelites had to cleanse themselves before they could even come near the mount (Ex. 19:10); nevertheless, they still trembled with reverence and fear in response to the darkness and thundering (Ex. 19:16).
Point 3: God called Moses to come up alone; nobody else was even allowed to come near the mount or else they would die (Ex. 19:23,24).
Point 4: In relation to The Law itself, perhaps the teacher should discuss each point individually with the class, even it meant two weeks or more to cover it all. Involve the students by having them provide examples of each type of sin; this will make it all more real to them.
