Shad Sluiter - "Cold. That’s how it feels to stand outside of a soggy stadium late at night. It’s cold waiting for a ride when your team has just lost the third game of the season. It feels even colder when your ride is late and all your friends have gone home. It feels especially cold when you find out you’ve just missed out on something really great..."
Memory Verse: John 1:29 Memory Verse Text: Behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.
Point 1: God placed a prohibition (restriction) on who could enter within the veil to the Presence of God: Only one man, Aaron the High Priest, was allowed to come inside. Point 2: Before that man could enter God's Presence, it was necessary for him to prepare himself. Not only did he have to be washed and clean; he also had to be clothed with the appropriate and designated holy garments that God had demanded. Point 3: The Israelites were required to give Aaron two kid goats to offer and Aaron was to bring a bullock to be offered for himself and for his family. One of the kid goats was for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. First of all, Aaron had to offer his bullock. Secondly, he was to kill the first goat and take the blood to be applied for the uncleanness of the children of Israel. Point 4: Next, Aaron confessed upon the living goat's head all the sins of the people, including both their iniquities and their transgressions. (It is important to understand what iniquities and transgressions are so that you can explain them.) The goat was then taken away to die in the wilderness under the eye of God where no human eye could see.
Notes: Note how serious uncleanness and defilement were/are to God. If we had God's thoughts, would we think differently of our sin today?
